In a career plot twist I never saw coming, Jennifer Lawrence watched a TED Talk I gave about the future of beauty, and decided to get in touch. With some persistence, I might add. This is the story of what happened between that moment and today, which spans about three years. In that talk, I shared how for much of beauty's history we've treated hair as a dead fiber. Something to be managed, coated, and styled, like a rug or a piece of yarn. But biology is revealing a much more fascinating picture of hair, and entirely new possibilities for how we can care for it. There is so much more I could say, but perhaps the most extraordinary part of this journey has been discovering what happens when two very different ways of seeing the world come together. Jen had a vision for unique product formats and use cases with hair health at the center. Her creativity challenged our science, and our science opened up possibilities neither of us had imagined. We pushed each other to think differently, question conventions, and create something we couldn't have arrived at alone. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built together. Jen, thank you for believing in me, my team, and this little biology company long before any of this existed. We came from completely different worlds, brought entirely different perspectives, and never asked each other to be anything other than ourselves. And that's the spirit of what we've created. Beauty that meets you where you are, works with your real life, and never asks you to be anyone else. This is @mesbeautyofficial Come as you are.
