@nealkshah: Wearing socks to bed can actually help you fall asleep faster, and the reason is surprisingly counterintuitive. It sounds backwards, since you would think warming your feet would heat you up and keep you awake. But the opposite happens. To fall asleep, your body needs to lower its core temperature, and it does that by releasing heat through your hands and feet. When you warm your feet with socks, the blood vessels there widen, a process called vasodilation, which lets more heat escape and actually cools your core faster. That temperature drop sends a powerful signal to your brain that it is time for sleep. The research backs it up: one study found that people who wore socks to bed fell asleep around 7 to 8 minutes faster, slept about half an hour longer, and woke up fewer times during the night. For older adults, whose circulation to the feet tends to be poorer, this simple trick can help even more. A few tips: choose loose, breathable socks rather than tight compression ones, which can restrict blood flow, and a warm foot bath before bed works too if socks feel stuffy. It is one of the cheapest, easiest sleep upgrades out there. Follow for more simple sleep science, and share this with someone who struggles to drift off. #SleepBetter #SleepHacks #HealthyAging

Just breath deep ten times. After the first 3-5 breaths, you yawn, by 6-7 you are in nappy land. This is a military strategy- lights out!

I always have to have warm feet before I can fall asleep! I used to keep them on all night until I was pregnant with my youngest. Since that pregnancy 18 years ago, once my feet are warm, the socks are off - but 90% of the time, socks are on before I fall asleep.
