I used to spend my days helping people understand that the body remembers things the mind cannot always find words for. That grief has a pulse. That fear has a weight. That heartbreak doesn’t always arrive as tears. Sometimes it arrives as exhaustion. As a stomach that cannot settle. As a chest that tightens when the phone goes quiet. As a breath we don’t realize we’ve been holding until someone tells us they’re safe. I knew all of this. I taught all of this. And still, there are days when my body seems to know how frightened I am for the people I love in Gaza before I have found the courage to admit it to myself. There is a particular helplessness in loving people you cannot reach. In watching the world continue its ordinary rituals while another part of your heart waits for news that everyone has survived another night. And I know I am not alone in this. I know there are people reading these words whose shoulders haven’t relaxed in months. Whose sleep has changed. Whose hearts race at an unfamiliar notification. Who feel guilty laughing, eating, resting, or enjoying the very safety they desperately wish they could give someone else. I want to tell you something I spent years telling the people who trusted me with their pain. Your body is not betraying you. It may be trying to carry something that was never meant to be carried alone. And you are allowed to be gentle with it. Not because what is happening is acceptable. Not because your grief is finished. But because the people we love deserve a world with less suffering in it. And so do we. Tell me, if you feel comfortable: Where has your heartbreak been living in your body lately? Perhaps we can make a little room for one another here. 🕯️ Read More On: TheLightWeLeaveOn.com #TheLightWeLeaveOn #WhereTheGriefGoes #Gaza #Palestine #MentalHealthAwareness
