@deargrownkids: DEAR GROWN KIDS, WE ARE NOT PSYCHIC! 🔮🔥 Accountability matters. Parents should acknowledge their mistakes and take responsibility for genuine harm. But what happens when a parent is told they’re toxic, narcissistic, or emotionally immature without ever understanding the specific behavior being addressed? Some parents were clearly told what went wrong and refused to listen. Others genuinely don’t know what happened. And while nobody should be forced to communicate with someone who makes them feel unsafe, meaningful repair usually requires some understanding of what needs to change. Can someone genuinely take accountability for something they don’t understand? #DearGrownKids #FamilyEstrangement #GenXParents #AdultChildren #FamilyCommunication
My mother literally claimed to be a psychic my whole life.. she was lying by the way…. So she can’t even use this excuse.😂😂😂

A kid doesn’t hate their parents for no reason. Maybe they have explained it for years, and are js sick of explaining it

I think my AC merely wants me to be an “acquaintance” she wants surface level interaction and to see each other only when she wants. She wanted a 1950’s cookie baking macaroni necklace making mother that was completely focused on her needs. Complete opposite of who I am. I Unfortunately I had to go to school, work and figure out my own trauma along with being a wife. I was told I had to be everything to everyone including taking care of myself. I never laid hands on her, never belittled or abused her. And Because she can’t tell me why or how about anything..I am left to believe that she just doesn’t like me as a person and definitely not as her mother and I have to be ok with that.

🔮 DEAR GROWN KIDS, WHEN DID YOUR MOTHER BECOME A PSYCHIC DETECTIVE?! 🕵️♀️🍿
Some adult children expect their parents to apologize, take accountability, and make amends, but refuse to explain exactly what they’re supposed to be apologizing for!
Here’s my question: How can a parent genuinely take accountability for something if their adult child won’t communicate what actually happened or what needs to change?
Parents, have you ever been told you owe an apology but couldn’t get a straight answer about what you did?
Adult children, do you believe parents should automatically know what they did wrong, or is communication necessary for genuine reconciliation?
And yes, sometimes parents have been told repeatedly and simply refuse to listen. That’s a different conversation!
ACCOUNTABILITY REQUIRES HONESTY, BUT RECONCILIATION ALSO REQUIRES COMMUNICATION! 💚🔥

My parents made a lot of mistakes. Mostly drug related. My mother atoned for those mistakes, so I still have her in my life after everything she’s done. My father on the other hand.. I don’t speak to him, because he doesn’t even see what he did wrong no matter how many times I explain. My husband keeps his mother at arms length because she refuses to acknowledge the physical abuse she put him through when she was high, even though she’s an entirely different person now that she’s been sober for so long. Everybody has different thresholds for what damage they’re willing to just take on the chin. However, some people just WANT to be a victim because “mommy yelled at me sometimes”, and won’t hear any type of accountability to begin with. I think you just need to live instead of calling your adult children names. And if they come back wanting a relationship, you then get to decide if you want to reciprocate. You don’t have to sit on idle being angry waiting for your grown kids to come around.

its a control tactic. The parent gets to torture themselves, apologizing for every thing they can think of, and then investigating EAC content and even apogizing things may not have done.
.
The key to this is to increase the anxiety of the victim, distort their sense of reality, and then put them in an eventual state of submission and fear.
.
The first domino is apologizing for something not knowing if that's the wrong thing. Conveniently, it isnt, but it'll be added to the list and further the evidence of..."what a piece of sh!t my parent is."
.
Any admission of wrong doing that isnt specific isnt good enough, but every time the victim fills in the blank themselves, it builds up the evidence against them.
.
The adult-in-theory-child knows this. its easy to dominate a game when the opponent doesn't know they are playing.
.
spread the word, tell the parents the rules, and figure out...the only way to win is not to play.
