@annalieseerinparentcoach: 1.I’m letting him struggle without rescuing him. I won’t solve every problem for him. He’ll learn to think critically, overcome challenges, trust his own abilities and be solution focused. While he’s little and he needs help, I will listen and we will go over the options together. As he gets older, my involvement lessens as he becomes capable. 2.I’m teaching him that strength and kindness coexist. He can be assertive without being aggressive, kind without being a pushover, and confident without needing to dominate others. 3.I’m teaching him to be a leader in our household. He’ll learn to take initiative, help without being asked, and contribute to our family. Leadership means taking responsibility, not controlling others. I’m teaching him to be capable, not dependent. He’ll learn to cook, clean, manage responsibilities, and look after himself. I’m raising a future man, not someone who expects others to do everything for him. 4. I’m teaching him that if it’s done, it’s done properly — or it’s done again. I won’t accept half-hearted effort when he’s capable of doing better. He’ll learn to take pride in his work, take ownership, and correct his mistakes. The standard isn’t perfection; it’s effort, accountability, and responsibility. 5.I’m teaching him that emotions aren’t weakness. He can cry, feel afraid, and ask for help. I want him to understand his emotions, not suppress them or take them out on others. 6.I’m holding him accountable. I won’t excuse disrespectful behaviour because he’s a boy. He’ll learn to own his mistakes, make things right, and do better. 7.I’m teaching him to respect women and meet his own needs Women aren’t possessions or caretakers. He’ll learn to respect boundaries, value autonomy, and understand that nobody owes him anything. He will learn what his needs are and meet them himself. ➡️I may be raising him as a single mum, but I’m not raising him to believe he’s missing what he needs to become a good man. I’m raising him to be capable, emotionally intelligent, accountable, respectful, and confident. My goal isn’t to raise a boy who needs me to lead his life. It’s to raise a man who knows how to lead his own. Where are my other single mums raising boys at? Stop reacting, start leading is open!
