We are in a hookup culture now. Society has been grossly over sexualized.

One of the things Gen X and older millennials have in common is that in our 20s, technology never obligated us to be accessible 24/7 or made us subject to the neurotic whims of others.

Most of these arguments is the OP has rules and boundaries she expects and when the other person has their own rules and boundaries or disagrees with that other person's they make the other person the mean or rude one. You have the choice to set boundaries and choices... but so does everyone else

But this conversation is normal…… i dont think she was asking to be committed at the moment but asking more of literally how he shows up… which i feel like is a needed convo. Bc if we mismatch on how we show up and expectations etc then at least now ik that early rather than figuring that out later when im already attached and a few months in🤷🏻♀️you can have fun but also have the needed convos

I had this girl send me her friend to get information out of me. He invited me to a drink, I met him, it was an interrogation. Just 15 min of one-sided questioning. What!? I gave up on that one even tho I liked her and felt compatible energy.

I hate dating culture and would never "date". Yet I've only been single for a total of two years over the last 35. We Gen Xers are just built different.

Why don't adopt a simpler approach where you date and learn about each other over time. You can then decide if she/he is right for you. This contractual society today suggests you need some sort of assurance before you try anything! Take a risk, trust your emotions and at worst you can say that the experience was character building.

too many people see 1 potential red flag and its on to the next match. im not saying ignore it but youre probably not going to find your 100% perfect match in life.

I hadn't thought of that aspect. Dating just isn't fun anymore. Dating has turned into a job. Maybe that's the biggest reason it is failing. We don't enjoy it so why do it?

Yes Emily, you are right. But a man who is worth a woman’s time, just as a woman who is worth a woman’s time will recognize that other person has been hurt before and mature adults will understand and not have any issues with the other person wanting to protect themselves.
