@nbcphiladelphia: 📱🏫 Pennsylvania students could soon be required to put their phones away for the entire school day. The State House passed a bill requiring public schools to adopt bell-to-bell cell phone restrictions, with exceptions. The bill now returns to the State Senate for approval before heading to Governor Josh Shapiro. If signed into law, schools would have until the start of the 2027–2028 school year to implement their policies. What do you think? Should phones be off-limits throughout the school day? 👇 #Pennsylvania #CellPhoneBan #NBC10 #ValeriaBreaksItDown
My school has already started this. They take phones and send them to the office. They give out detentions, reports and other disciplinary measures. They started to do “surprise searches” where they lock the kids in the bathroom and one by one metal detect them. They would set up a table and go through bags, pencil cases, pockets and search your person. You’re not allowed to have phones in your bag/pockets and they say “leave them at home or in your locker”. I don’t have a problem with the policy, but people I know were over an hour late to class because they were searching 50+ students at a time. They were also taking vapes and carts from the girls and boy bathrooms. At this point I just avoid the bathrooms because they get so packed and now they are searching everyone in them.
