all of our dogs were trained, if the tailgate was up they did not get in or out. tailgate down they could get in or out. no reason to tie them.

When I was a baby my mom had our dog tied to the truckbed. He jumped out two miles before we noticed. A dog is more likely to survive being untethered lol
