my gastroparesis led to arfid which led to ha and horrible weightless. accepting that instead of making a cute lil coffee or matcha my dumb ass needs to drink an ensure has unfortunately done wonders for me atleast getting in nutrition an now maintaining my weight. because I will not eat but im always gonna have atleast 3 drink at any given time. ultimately I have 4 timers set every day telling me to eat something. if food makes me wanna vomit I gotta atleast try an ensure or smoothie.

Arfid. Did you have any trauma w food? Anything at all? I would do some research on it and causes/ advice. I could type stuff out but it’s different for everyone. Sounds like that’s what you have tho

I had that at one point I’m not sure which meds helped. I think linzess helped me gain weight but idk. I also take Zoloft, zofran as needed. Good luck girl it does get better you just have to find the right doctors or medications

Pots can have an effect on the gastrointestinal system. I struggle to eat alot of food cause of extreme nausea. best advice I can give is to eat what you crave, and if you dont have cravings then on the days when you are extremely nauseous eat bland foods and eat it in small bites even if it takes over an hour. another things with pots is that large meals aren't something thats good for us. my doctors told me small meals and snacking throughout the day is whats best. large meals can cause the digestive system to work harder and that takes away energy for the nervous system which is already dysfunctional with pots so larger meals can send you into a pots episode. I also have adhd and forget to eat all the time. and i have Arfid as well which is an eating disorder that doesnt have to do with body image issues. ive learned with my arfid its fear based on if ill throw up from nausea and it scared me away from eating cause my mind automatically assumes food will make me sick even though it isn't reality.

Do you take any sort of medication? When I took Zoloft, I was bone thin. I would honestly forget to eat most days. When I did eat, I almost felt like I "couldn't" swallow because of the severe lack of appetite even when my stomach was growling. It could possibly be a medication side effect if there's anything you're taking. Maybe try protein shakes 🩷

Setting regular alarms to remind me to eat had helped me with this. Not perfect but somewhat helpful!

My daughter has this issue. She’s lost 90 pounds since spring. She throws up eating more than a few bites. She’s going to gastro to see about gastroperesis.

Oh my god I thought it was just me 😭 the smell, interacting and cooking food makes me so so nauseous - even thinking about it 😭 sometimes I can get food in my stomach but it’s not nearly as often and as much as I should be eating

eat earlier in the day if u can bc that can stimulate appetite, and it doesn’t have to be an elaborate meal, even a quick carb might help

I used to have something like that. Turns out my stomach was always with so much acids it never felt “empty” so I never felt hungry, but sometimes I got nauseous from the same gastritis. After treatment was the very first time I could feel how “being hungry” really felt.

Sounds like chronic fight or flight, as many other comments said. I'm certainly not an expert and usually prefer to stay out of food stuff for that reason.
I just noticed it sounds very similar to what happens after a huge, shocking stress event. Like what happens after a sudden 🪦 of someone close to you, and then you have to organise arrangements and do all this admin and usually juggle work or school at the same time etc etc. And what happens?
"I'm not hungry. I can't even think about eating right now."
"I can't even remember the last time I ate."
Getting nauseated after eating also sounds very much like trying to eat when you're sympathetic NS is still way too activated. No rest and digest response, not much actual food processing going on, no salivation triggered by the thought, sight or smell of food, no stomach growling, no appetite. Then no movement when you do eat so you feel sick for a long time because the food is just sitting, waiting until the threat has passed and it's safe to relax, rest and digest.

I had these symptoms and it made me terrified to eat because I would throw up every time I ate, I had GERD which lead to stomach ulcers 🙃
