I don't care what I am ranked. I am a 22 year veteran teacher. I have been red, yellow, green, and blue. A blue teacher one year and the next red. Doesn't make any sense.

NC Principal here.. I’m certainly advocating for kinder EVAAS to be BOY to EOY because like so many other things in NC it does not make sense.

It's worse than that. Those rankings are based on how other students performed. You only show "growth" if your students improve more than others do. That means any student you "grow" did so by pushing another student down in the rankings.

So here is the deal- they use it against you if you are below level but if you are above level then suddenly that data doesn’t matter.

My biggest beef is that they take 1-3 kids out of my data yearly as "outliers" because they make too much growth. Make that make sense.

and they don’t take into account the MAJOR behaviors we now have in our classroom. I’ve been down in the dumps as well. After not getting a great observation over things I can’t control. Prayers for all us kinder N.C. teachers 🥲🥲🥲

i just wished we got bonuses from it. im in my third year for first grade. mine says exceeded growth although it was never explained to me what it meant.

Pisses me off so bad. I have said everything you are saying here so many times. It’s not accurate info and unfair to our kids, the teachers, and the school. Kindergarten growth is major from BOY to MOY.

I had zero students predicted to pass zero. I had 22 pass and everyone grew and yet I was in the yellow. Go figure.

No one can tell me exactly how it is calculated. It’s all fake and I just don’t care about it anymore 11 years later. My kids made growth and that’s all that matters to me.

I’ve never looked at mine. Year 25 in NC public schools. If my EVAAS scores have ever been a concern, they should have let me know something by now.

I completely understand a teacher's frustration with EVAAS!!! my frustration is being an 8th grade science teacher and exceeding growth and not getting that bonus that Math and ELA teachers get when they see growth. I mean somebody make that make sense?!😳

My favorite part…we don’t get a bonus or a pay check for being in the green but testing teachers get paid for good scores. You, kindergarten, first and second, taught them to read and how to do math. EVASS is so silly

I hate EVASS because it’s not fair that kindergarten has the most growth boy to moy and it doesn’t count but everyone else’s does. 😔
