I’m not understanding the comparison you’re trying to make between therapy and hairstyling beyond the fact that we both provide services. That alone doesn’t mean our industries operate under the same business model.
You keep trying to fit hairstylists into a blue-collar, pink-collar, or white-collar category as though that label determines what we should charge or who we should serve. Hairstyling is a skilled trade. We are also artisans, craftspeople, and, in many cases, business owners. Our pricing reflects our skill, creativity, experience, expenses, and the demand for our work. As business owners, we set our prices, and clients decide whether they want to book at those prices. Your budget does not automatically make you someone’s target customer, and a stylist’s occupational category does not determine the income bracket of the people they serve.
Whatever limitations you experience within your own business model do not automatically apply to ours. Calling hairstyling blue-collar does not mean we are obligated to charge within a particular budget or serve only blue-collar clients.
You keep trying to put this entire industry into a box it does not fit, then questioning the professionals whose businesses extend beyond that box. That is where this conversation keeps going wrong.
