Houston and Galveston almost became what New York is, but it never got built up the same way and the economic boom didn’t happen here the same it did in New York and a lot had to do with all the hurricanes that hit and would destroy half of Galveston, they couldn’t do anything there at the time

As a kid, we lived on the north side and I could always see the downtown skyline from my backyard, but then as I got older, I realize there was more than one skyline. Great times as a kid in my neighborhood

My mother drove down from Dallas to Houston for the first time, saw Greenspoint and that it was downtown, we got into an argument and she was screaming at me “I can see it with my own effin eyes” … as she kept driving down 45 and downtown popped up into her view she was like Oh, and didn’t even apologize for screaming at me…

I've lived here most of my life. I remember Transco Tower going up with absolutely nothing around it! Just the tallest building ever in a the middle of nowhere! They knew Houston was a crazy amoeba that was going to swallow everything and keep growing!
