@borntoserve07: "My YES nearly cost me myself. My NO is helping me find myself again." "I wasn't exhausted because I didn't love what I did. I was exhausted because I never knew when to stop giving." "Some people don't have a problem with your boundaries. They have a problem with losing access to you." For 17 years, I was the person who said YES. Yes, I can help. Yes, I'll take care of it. Yes, I'll stay a little longer. Yes, I'll figure something out. And somewhere between taking care of everyone else and meeting everybody's needs, I forgot that I had needs of my own. I thought being dependable meant always being available. I thought being a good caregiver meant finding a way, even when I was exhausted. And I thought saying NO meant I was disappointing somebody. But here's what 17 years of caregiving taught me. You can love people and still have limits. You can care deeply and still need rest. You can be compassionate without sacrificing yourself. And you can say NO without writing a long explanation to make everybody comfortable. I'm not becoming selfish. I'm becoming more aware of what I can give without losing myself in the process. Today, when I say NO, it doesn't mean I stopped caring. It means I've finally started including myself among the people who deserve care. My NO is not a punishment. It's a boundary. And after 17 years of saying YES, I'm learning that my peace deserves protection, too. — Born to Serve 💜 "Caregivers, what's harder for you: saying NO, or dealing with the guilt afterward?
