Mabonga has previously released videos, photographs, and documents detailing the detention of government critics and opponents after their abductions. In the first footage, we saw Sam Mugumya and several other men. Now, the latest footage shows two women. One of them is identified by Mabonga as Fatuma, a woman who was abducted and has been held there for a long time. The second woman remains unidentified, but she is seen in the footage in a role that appears to involve monitoring the detainees. Think about that for a moment. Two women inside a detention facility, one reportedly held for a prolonged period, and serious questions about their identities, their treatment, and why they are there. Who is Fatuma? When was she abducted? What has happened to her during her time in captivity? Who is the second woman, and what is her role inside this facility? These are not questions the authorities can simply brush aside. If people are being held in secret detention facilities, the public deserves answers. Families deserve to know where their loved ones are. And anyone detained must have their rights respected. I reached out to Lt. Mabonga once again because I wanted answers about Fatuma: who she is, how long she has been held, and what he knows about her circumstances. The footage has raised more questions.
