@corbinneville84: Been messing around with integrating my BTECH UV-PRO into ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit) and seeing just how much capability you can squeeze out of commercially available equipment. Right now I’m running the UV-PRO with my Ops-Core AMPs and a Disco32 U-94 PTT for voice communications, while using the UV-PRO-MESH plugin to connect the radio to ATAK over Bluetooth. What’s interesting is that you’re not limited to just voice communications anymore. With another operator running compatible equipment, you can exchange GPS positions, send text messages, share waypoints, and maintain some level of situational awareness without relying on cellular service or internet connectivity. If you’re into military communications and fieldcraft, it’s a pretty cool way to replicate some of the basic capabilities and concepts used in military systems without spending thousands of dollars on proprietary equipment. Being practical about it, think hurricanes, natural disasters, extended power outages, or any situation where cellular infrastructure becomes unavailable or unreliable. Being able to communicate with someone and potentially see their last reported location on a map could be extremely useful. Obviously, there are limitations. This isn’t some magical long-range mesh network. Terrain, antenna selection, radio configuration, and the equipment on the other end all matter. I’ve successfully established the connection between ATAK and the UV-PRO, but still need to conduct some actual RF testing with another operator to see how well the data side performs. Either way, I’ve always enjoyed seeing what I can accomplish with relatively inexpensive equipment. It’s one thing to buy something that works out of the box, but figuring out how to integrate different systems together is half the fun. #ATAK #hamradio #offgrid #disasterrelief #tacticalcommunications

Thank you! Have really been considering something similar to this. Gives me a clean visual of what’s possible now days
