@khanjicyber: Anthropic bought 15 of the dodgy Android TV boxes I told you about, and tried to get an AI to spread across them like a worm. It worked. Quick recap of what they found: They ran a full AI model across 15 boxes at $55 each. No data centre. Slow, but it ran. Then they tested whether an AI could find other devices, copy itself over, and keep going. In a controlled test with the debug port left open, it reached all eight targets four times out of five. The only model that pulled it off was GLM 5.2, a Chinese open-weight model. Every other open model they tried failed. Their maths on a real botnet the size of the one in my earlier video (2 million infected TV boxes) works out to about 133,000 copies of an AI model running at once, and you pay the power bill. They reckon small models could be capable of this by the end of the year. What to do: if it’s a no-name Android box, bin it or put it on your guest Wi-Fi. Update anything that still updates. Anything that doesn’t get updates anymore, treat as already compromised. I’ve ordered one of these boxes.
