Michigan law is clear: under MCL 168.931, giving or promising money, gifts, or other things of value to influence how someone votes is prohibited. As a member of the House Election Integrity Committee and the Select Committee on Rules and Procedures of the State Board of Canvassers and Bureau of Elections, I am calling for a hearing to examine an incident involving a candidate’s spouse distributing free $10 gas cards alongside apparent campaign activity. Multiple videos and media footage have raised questions, including allegations that recipients received campaign stickers in connection with the giveaway. These allegations deserve a thorough, impartial review to determine whether the law was violated. I am hopeful my colleagues will take this issue seriously. Candidates and their campaigns must follow the law, and voters deserve transparency, accountability, and confidence in the integrity of our elections. Nigeria has confirmed an Ebola case in a woman who recently arrived on an international flight from Uganda, the Health Ministry said. The woman was admitted to a private hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, where she received care for several days before laboratory tests confirmed the infection. She is now in isolation and receiving medical care, the ministry said. The government has stepped up surveillance and ordered hospitals to strengthen infection prevention measures. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, contained an Ebola outbreak in 2014. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information. #africa #ebola #health #news #mailtalks
