My family was always like that too. I'm not a nurse but I work with them every night in med/surg. My advice is you can't do it for the money. If you genuinely care for people, you'll get used to the hard on the job, and you'll succeed. A lot of patients are extremely abusive. A lot of them are sweet or funny. You'll see people die. You have to have thick skin. Most importantly, you can do it!
