We are saved by faith alone, but true faith never stays alone. The works we do aren't what saves us, but they naturally flow out as a visible result and byproduct of the real faith living inside us. That is the best explanation [Like]

more than religion :
no contradiction one is how you gain salvation and one proves to others that salvation is real. faith and grace alone god gives salvation. "faith without works" is proving to others that you are saved, essentially non-believers constantly say "if God is real he should show himself" because they walk by sight so the only way to make them believe is by seeing the works. hope this helps!

There is no contradiction here. When speaking of the works of the law, Paul is trying to move people away from the law of Moses for justification and move them toward the new covenant that begins with Faith in Christ. We are no longer saved by the works of dietary restrictions, circumcision, cleansing, etc.. Salvation is now through Faith in Christ. Even back then, the “Faith alone” heresy crept into the early church. Faith in Christ was never suppose to supplant obedience. Faith is the starting point for the new gospel. Paul addressed it in Romans “For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law…. Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.” James reaffirms that position that “faith without works is dead”. It’s only a contradiction if you think Paul taught “faith alone”. He didn’t. He never said faith “alone”. (Rom 3:28) That was addition to the Bible by scribes that survived for hundreds of years that has since been taken out by modern scholarly translations. But the dogma still remains in Christian tradition. He taught faith in Christ but he also taught that a follower of Christ puts away the old self is obedient. Read Colossians 3
