He called the victim "his girl" and "his best friend in the universe," often accusing her of "neglecting" him when she didn't stay in touch. In order to erode her confidence and prevent her from challenging his behaviour, Anthony Maina would isolate her from other people. Under false pretences, such as to pick up a package or allow workers access, Anthony Maina would invite the survivor to his house and then abuse her.
