According to Dayton Police, officers were called to the intersection near Stilson Road on the highway around 6:30 a.m. Friday following reports of a crash. Investigators confirmed the victim was a pedestrian in the area rather than a student riding on the bus. The teenager’s father, Andrew Conner, identified the victim as his son, Brantley, adding that the boy's condition was severe enough to require an emergency airlift to the hospital. Authorities have arrested the bus driver, identified as 70-year-old Ricky Eugene Cherry, for failing to stop and render aid after striking the teen.
