Some discomfort happens to you. Some discomfort has to be chosen by you. Knowing the difference can change what you build with your life. Over the years, I have heard many people tell me: “Dzigbordi, I want to build something of my own, but I just don’t have the time.” And I understand. There is your job. The children. The bills. The responsibilities. The exhaustion that hits when the day is finally over. And in our part of the world, you are often carrying more than your own responsibilities. You may be supporting family, solving problems for others, and still trying to keep your own life together. So, I don’t tell people to “just work harder.” I ask a different question: “Can you choose 30 minutes of discomfort?” Not five hours. Not quitting your job tomorrow. Not sacrificing your entire life. Thirty minutes. Thirty minutes to learn. Thirty minutes to build. Thirty minutes to practise. Thirty minutes to move something forward. Because almost everything you become good at starts out inconvenient. Exercise is uncomfortable before your body adapts. Studying feels tedious before the knowledge becomes yours. Building a new skill after a long workday feels difficult before it becomes part of who you are. There is always a period when the new life you want is competing with the comfort of the life you already know. And that is where many people stop. They tell themselves: “If this is really meant for me, it shouldn’t feel this hard.” But who told you that? Difficulty is not always a warning sign. Sometimes it is the training ground. The goal is not to make your life endlessly uncomfortable. The goal is to become capable of carrying the right discomfort long enough for it to produce something valuable. So, don’t only ask yourself: “What do I want?” Ask the harder question: “What inconvenience am I willing to carry long enough to build it?” Because your future is often hiding inside the discomfort you keep postponing✨🖤💛
