A day I will never forget! ❤️💀 An incredible celebration at my favorite place on earth! 🥰 I had the honor of attending Hollywood Forever Cemetery’s 27th annual Día de los Muertos celebration, one of the largest celebrations of its kind in the United States! Every year, people from all over come together to celebrate this beautiful Mexican holiday. Hollywood Forever transforms into a colorful celebration filled with music, dancing, traditional performances, breathtaking artwork, beautiful ofrendas, and vendors celebrating Mexican culture. Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday rooted in the belief that the souls of our deceased loved ones can temporarily return to the world of the living to reunite with their families. Families create ofrendas (altars) decorated with photographs, candles, food, and personal belongings of those who have passed. Bright orange marigolds, known as cempasúchil, are believed to help guide the spirits of our loved ones back home. 🧡🌼 What makes this holiday so special is that rather than focusing on mourning, it celebrates life, love, and remembrance. It’s a beautiful reminder that even though someone may no longer be physically with us, their memory continues to live on. This was my very first time celebrating Día de los Muertos, and I couldn’t have imagined a more incredible experience. Hollywood Forever went above and beyond with breathtaking art installations, elaborate ofrendas, talented performers, and traditional music. I was especially blown away by the artwork created by local Latino artists and the amount of love that went into every display. As someone who spends so much of my life in cemeteries honoring those we’ve lost, seeing thousands of people come together in a cemetery, not in sadness, but in joy, love, and remembrance, was something I will never forget. 🥹❤️ The amount of love and happiness I felt was immeasurable.
