Mekies is better for modern F1 though... the current landscape of team principals is that engineering focused person. Horner is outdated, even Toto is a bit outdated in that aspect.

idk i think hes a better TEAM principal because horner very much acted as vettel racing principal or verstappen racing principal, never red bull TEAM principal, mekies so far has done a great job removing that culture from red bull and the massive slump which red bull was in when he took over, it seems to be a much healthier team that actually has two cars and i think theres absolutely potential for mekies to win some titles

horner built red bull from nothing meckies got the finished product yes before meckies in the beginning of 2025 the car wasnt great but the team was still red bull who had come of winning 4 wdc and 2 WCC , a team drivers and enginners would want too go too

he is the only team principal to take a dog 💩 team (jaguar) and totally transform the operations to make it the most sort after team next to Mercedes, only Toto has done something similar.

Horner was good at developing driver(s), I say it like that because he seemed to build the car around the best driver, like I doubt if you put any driver other than max in the 2025 red bull when it was at its worst you'd see them get a win and that's because it was clearly focused on him, Mekies has clearly rolled that back, as we have seen Isacks been way more competitive even if it does mean at times max has been more tame, and I'd argue its a worthy sacrifice? I really competitive driver and one who's binning it every race or two competitive drivers who are less likely to be winning as much but are both fighting for podiums and sometimes wins. Commercially also Horner was great, but him (and the redbull team) kinda screwed over the porche move, and this shouldn't really count, but I think that having a character like horner who basically denies brands access to the sport, for the current teams gain, that's not the greatest for the sport or the fans!

he was just the wrong TP at that point maybe even the wrong one for any team on modern times just bc of the way he is and the way he wins he is comparable to mourinho or Ancelotti great managers but just not working in today's time

I think he is better too, but I think its the enviorment he created, I remember when people rumored horner to aston martin but then when adrian newey was asked about it, he said he wouldn't be in the team if he joined. Mercedes enviorment is good, its why we see bono in the team for years, toto created a peaceful enviorment unlike redbull

Christian Horner biggest credit is taking a leap of faith to create Redbull Powertrains and worked well in its debut and better than the Mercs

I don’t think they try and undermined his achievements, but I think they meant that for the new Red Bull they are better and the better culture and certainly will win championships in the future cause he only started last year
