Let’s talk about reading supplement labels instead of just trusting the front of the bottle. When a company sends me a product, I want to understand what it actually contains, what those ingredients are intended to do, and what the research tells us. I received Ritual’s Perimenopause Health formula, so let’s take a closer look. First: what’s in it? The formula lists four active ingredients: 🌿 Shatavari — a botanical traditionally used in women’s health. Research into its potential benefits for menopausal symptoms is still developing, but is encouraging. 🌼 Evening primrose oil — contains gamma-linolenic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid. Evidence for its effectiveness across various menopause-related symptoms is limited. But anecdotal evidence suggests it can be helpful in easing inflammation and a host of other symptoms. 🧬 DIM — a compound derived from the breakdown of indole-3-carbinol, which occurs in cruciferous vegetables. It can influence estrogen metabolism, helping escort excess estrogen out of the body. Definitely an ingredient I personally like to incorporate, but that doesn’t mean it is proven to balance hormones or treat endometriosis. 💊 Vitamin B6 — an essential vitamin involved in normal nervous system function and energy metabolism. Second: does a supplement designed for perimenopause replace hormone therapy? No. A dietary supplement and prescribed hormone therapy are different things. They aren’t interchangeable, and the right approach depends on a person’s symptoms, medical history and goals. Third: what should you check before buying? Look at the amount of each ingredient, the full ingredient list, the evidence for the claims being made, and potential interactions with your medications. If you have a hormone-sensitive condition or use hormone therapy, ask your clinician whether the formula is appropriate for you. I’m just sharing an ingredient breakdown here, not claiming that it can treat or cure any condition. Educationsl purposes only. Not medical advice. #Perimenopause #WomensHealth #Endometriosis #over40 #over30 @Ritual
