@uyiosael: History wasn’t just written. IT WAS EDITED. The robbery was physical, but the whitewashing was psychological and intellectual. Empires did not only take land, gold, bronzes, manuscripts and sacred objects. They attacked the authority of African people to define themselves. Libraries were destroyed, archives scattered, knowledge systems dismissed as primitive, objects ripped from their original meaning and shipped abroad, and then came the final insult: “Where is your history? Where are your records? What did Africa contribute?” THAT is the arrogance of whitewashing. Damage the archive, then mock the gaps. Strip the context, then pretend the silence proves there was nothing there. And the same machinery still works today. First the African name is “too difficult.” The language is “broken.” The pattern is “tribal.” The hairstyle is “unprofessional.” The rhythm is “noise.” The architecture is “backward.” The food is “poverty.” Then somebody removes the African context, gives it foreign branding, puts it under museum lights or on a runway, adds luxury packaging and suddenly the same thing becomes AUTHENTIC, EXOTIC, SUSTAINABLE, PREMIUM and globally fashionable. MOCK THE SOURCE. ERASE THE CONTEXT. REPACKAGE THE IDENTITY. CONTROL THE LABEL. COLLECT THE PROFIT. Then act as though the value appeared only after somebody else discovered it. WHITEWASHED is not merely about stolen artifacts. It is about stolen authority: who gets to decide what counts as knowledge, art, beauty, civilization, sophistication and history itself. They did not just rob the house. They rewrote the inventory, removed the owner’s name, displayed the valuables somewhere else, and then tried to convince the descendants that the house had always been empty. THAT is why we must study. THAT is why we must remember. And THAT is why we must keep speaking until the damn labels tell the whole story. #uyiosael Song Title: Whitewashed (Afro-Soul) Available on all major streaming platforms! #whitewashed #history #africanart #africanculture #decolonizehistory
