@upliftrex_: Few philosophers changed the way humanity approached questioning and self-examination as profoundly as Socrates. Born around 470 BCE in Athens, he spent his life engaging people in conversations about virtue, knowledge, justice, morality, and the meaning of a good life. Rather than leaving behind written works, Socrates developed his philosophy through dialogue, constantly challenging assumptions and encouraging people to examine what they believed they knew. He was sentenced to death by an Athenian jury in 399 BCE and died in Athens. The saying draws a distinction between what captures our attention. Discussing ideas can push us toward understanding, questioning, and creating something new; discussing events can help us interpret what is happening around us; while constantly discussing people can easily turn into gossip and judgment. The deeper reflection is that the subjects we repeatedly choose to talk about can shape the direction of our own thinking and reveal where our attention truly lives. — @stoichonour #Stoic #stoicism #Socrates #creatorsearchinsights #deepmotivationalquotes
