I used to feel like I was failing one of my kids... when I tried to comfort them in moments of struggle, they pushed me away. When I validated their feelings, they responded back with loud, hurtful words. Then I had a simple yet profound realization: Different kids need different things. Parenting is not a ā€œone size fits allā€ approach. That’s what led me to develop my approach for Deeply Feeling Kids. What we’re typically told to do doesn’t work for these kids: they don’t want to talk about their feelings, they often don’t respond well to touching or direct eye contact, they don’t listen to logic or reason, and they even refuse rewards. It can feel like nothing you try is getting through..and in fact, each attempt only escalates their behavior. As this work grew, I realized something else: parents also needed a way to practice these principles with their kids, outside the heat of the moment. A way for Deeply Feeling Kids to see themselves - and for parents to see what steadiness and connection can look like in real life. That’s why I wrote this children’s book, Leave Me Alone! It’s another way to bring Good Inside to life: helping Deeply Feeling Kids feel seen, and helping parents build confidence in how they show up. I hold so much hope for you and your Deeply Feeling child. If this sounds like your child - or your house - you can pre-order Leave Me Alone! through the link in my bio. It comes out February 24, 2026. Pre-orders really help this book reach more families… and I love knowing you’ll soon have something on the way that can truly help.
