My German grandmother learned to speak English from television. She said she had to to in order to get things done. It’s not hard. She was an adult when she came here.

English is the second most spoken language in Mexico, and as a dual-citizen-never once did I even think that I would be provided with a translator when I got my license, conducted business, or went to the hospital lol. Lived in Mexico 4 years

I call BS on this. I'm in Healthcare and if the facility accepts federal dollars such as Medicare and medicaid then it's a requirement that the facility provides translator services. I've used it many times. Its available 24/7 on demand. Also that being said you need to learn the language for you're own good when living in country. its stupid and irresponsible to put that burden on others.

American schools teach English and other languages are seen as an elective. America does not have an official language but it does have an unofficial language.

When I travel to foreign countries they all have an expectation that you speak their language. Some even get angry when you don’t. They think it’s disrespectful to not speak their language. Why should it be any different here? Hypocrisy is so rampant in this day and age.

She said Spanish is second most common language in LA not the world. 🤔 You completely missed on that one. Plus there how many apps out there that’ll literally translate for you. A hospital not having a person or a device to translate is really unacceptable.

we need to make English a primary language for the US. this way you are expected to know the language...you need to learn a primary language when you travel abroad

That has to be a lie. A hospital in Los Angeles without Spanish-speaking staff? Absolutely impossible. I guarantee there are multiple staff that speak Spanish in a hospital in Los Angeles.
