@lauren.digitalsales: 3 mistakes I made on my FIRST maternity leave… and things I wish I'd done differently! 🥹 1. Thinking we'd somehow manage on maternity pay without changing much. £187 a week sounded manageable until I was actually trying to stretch it between food shops, bills, baby bits and everything else! 😩 I spent SO much time worrying about what we could afford, feeling guilty whenever I spent and constantly checking how much we had left. Looking back, I wish we'd sat down and properly worked out what those months were going to look like BEFORE I went on leave! 2. Spending so much of my maternity leave dreading going back to work. Honestly, I remember looking at my little girl and feeling sick at the thought of having to leave her before I felt ready! 💔 But because money was already tight, I didn't really feel like I had much choice. I wish I'd looked into things like flexible working and other options sooner, rather than spending those precious months worrying about something that hadn't even happened yet! 3. Assuming I had absolutely NO way of making extra income from home. This is probably the biggest one for me! Because I wasn't an influencer, didn't have any fancy skills and had NO experience running a business, I just assumed earning online wasn't something someone like me could do! 😂 It wasn't until my SECOND maternity leave that I discovered Canva and digital products! Things like planners, checklists, guides and invitations that people can purchase and download online! 🙌 I started learning during nap times, initially using ready-made products before eventually learning how to create my own too! And honestly, I had NO idea where it would take me! Fast forward to now it’s helped me extend my maternity leave, reduce my working hours and build an extra income around my girls! 🥹 And to think I could've started exploring something like this during my first maternity leave!
