@george_moulos: 🇬🇷 Greece is protesting today! Teachers, students and healthcare workers are taking to the streets across the country, demanding better wages, improved public services and action on the cost of living. In Athens, demonstrators are calling for more funding for schools and hospitals, additional staff and better working conditions. Teachers’ unions warn of thousands of unfilled positions, while students face rising housing costs and pressure on their education. But with public finances under pressure, how should the government respond? Should Greece invest more in education and healthcare, or are these strikes causing more disruption than progress? What do you think? It’s impossible for me to understand how millions of people have to suffer just to protect a handful of billionaires. As an example Greece has at least 24

Just moved to the Netherlands and supermarket prices are equal to 10-15% more than Greece, with the minimum wage here being x3+ that of Greece. So yea, more than justified

Greece does nothing for education. There is no free education for all. Parents have to pay private lessons or frontistiria to cover the curriculum. School infrastructure look like prisons, and there is no proper maintenance as a result ceilings fall on kids

i dont think theyre in the wrong, average pay is like 700-1000 and the rent on houses is outrageously high for a decently sized house, its like 650 just for rent, not enough for other stuff such as bills and supermarket

In real terms Greek teacher pay has gone DOWN 40 percent in the last twenty years. Wages have not gone up with inflation. They had their bonuses removed and higher rates of pay for managers and deputies were slashed. Imagine if your pay went down every year. A 40 percent decrease is incredible. Any reports need to mention these facts.
