The thing is, Lindt actually takes nice and there’s a lot of crap chocolate out there

I'm a chocoholic but rarely eat it now because of palm oil and lab grown cocoa research. For me it started with messing with cream egg ingredients and size, then spread to other brands and chocolates

HairyKnees62 :
Lindt WAS always a better chocolate with a silky smooth, melt in the mouth taste, even under the M&S brand name but that unfortunate waxy taste has slowly crept in at the same time as spiralling costs.
People expect to pay a premium price for a premium product but that product should remain premium.

I’m sure that part of the problem is that all the ‘luxury’ brands have been bought by the conglomerates. They are interested only in the profit margin. Sales of Lindt, in particular, are also down because they started using palm oil, reduced cocoa content and are investing in lab grown chocolate.

It’s not luxury, it’s available in every shop, it’s basically standard, luxury has to have a limited availability

The Gist :
Cocoa has fallen about 60% from its December 2024 record of $12,000 a tonne. Lindt's prices didn't follow, because it buys cocoa years ahead and says it got no benefit from the fall this year. The January cuts are the first time you'll see any of it at the till 🍫

they've increased the palm oil just like every other brand. If they want to charge a premium, the product has to be premium

Lindt started engineering their own cocoa in the lab and this will be their first trial day to see how sales will show? Please correct me if I am wrong.
