@dailymail: Nearly half of Americans aged 18 to 29 now live with their parents, while many others rely on family to help cover everyday expenses, new Federal Reserve data suggests. Economist Laura Ullrich warns the trend could have consequences far beyond the housing market, delaying marriage, parenthood and the age at which people buy their first home. Rising living costs, housing affordability and a tougher job market are among the pressures making it harder for young adults to become financially independent. The shift could reshape communities and the wider economy for years to come, affecting everything from school enrollment to fertility rates. #usa #news #adult #viral #Home
Well it doesn’t make sense for me to waste all my money on an unlivable rent when I can help my parents pay off their mortgage instead. Then we all have a home that belongs to us.

idk i moved out at 18 and I’m still in that age range. I went to college, lived off campus with roommates, and worked as a server to make my way. it is doable if you compromise. but a lot of people my age refuse to live with roommates or be financially responsible. just what i’ve noticed

Who wants to buy a 500k house that’s over valued and end up paying 7% for 20 years which means you’re paying 600k in interest so basically 1 million for a beginner house.

People choose to go to college and get into tens of thousands of dollars in debt without being able to get a job in that field that’s why.

In some cultures generational homes where families live together is common. Nothing wrong with staying with family, especially in recent times.

And just like that the American dream went from having one job that gets you a house with a lawn and enough to support a family if you want one… to having enough for a small apartment and minimal debt

These comments are ridiculous. all these people that are saying its not that hard to move out I did it. Hey maybe some of us don't want to live paycheck paycheck because that's not really living and then maybe some of us had over 70k in student loans to pay off on what is now considered a middle lower class income. And maybe some of us still worked a 2nd job for a while and that still didn't help. the cost of living has to change some people worked hard to get a graduate degree and still don't make 6 figures
