going to America to live without an education would be the worst decision. moving there is fine but take advantage of our system in Denmark. set yourself up for long term success. america has no safety net to catch you.

Live in the present, not the past. Go to the U.S. for college! I came to the U.S. for college as an international student and I got offered massive 6 figure scholarships at multiple schools. Focus on your grades and your extracurriculars. I now live in the U.S. full time because of the hard work that I put in when I was younger. You also can grow your platform while showing your journey of moving to the US, and use that to help you pay your expenses. You are in a far more advantageous place that you think.

DO NOT DROP OUT finish high school with good grades and make a sustainable long term plan to move there. College in the usa is your best bet

I would focus on getting good grades now so you can apply for college in the US with a scholarship - there are many ways to get one, and many Danish foundations are willing to pay entire tuitions.

try to be positive, it might be 1 day since you've gotten home, but its 1 day closer to coming back to America, whenever that may be!

If it helps, I know it’s really tough, but you’ll get back eventually! And you’ll make it til then! It took me almost 3 years to get back to my host country and it was absolutely the longest time until, but in hindsight, the time went by so fast and it does genuinely get easier

serious question. Do you ever see yourself moving here?
My son has spent the last 3 summers in Switzerland and is moving there in January after he graduates this semester.

I did an exchange year in 2002/03. I mourned Canada for an entire year after. Relentlessly. I had culture shock in the country I was born in. Went back for summer break. Applied to university in Canada, finished school in Germany, and went back the following summer. Went to university for four years in Canada and when I went back to Germany after, I was ready. I work at an international school in Germany now and working in an international environment has made all the difference. So dear Eja, feel all the feelings. Mourn and take your time to process. Long for your home away from home. And when you’re ready, make a plan. Live the heck out of your life wherever it takes you. You will be back. ❤️

Have you looked into going there for college? You should look into it. Start in DK and look into doing parts of your studies over seas.
