The organisers answered that it was a national symbol, designed by a National Artist, and cheaper than Singapore's. Then the audit came. The Commission on Audit reported over 2 billion pesos released to the organising committee still unliquidated. This July the National Bureau of Investigation reopened the whole thing. In September it said the cauldron may have been paid for twice. The Ombudsman is looking again. The organising committee says the funds were fully liquidated and certified back in 2022, and nothing has been proven against anyone. 7 years on, the kaldero is still standing. So is the question.
