You know, if people could only live in a healthcare workers brain for four hours I think they would be shocked at the number of times that we have to prioritize, re-prioritize, change directions, re-prioritize, re-prioritize. To me the physical work of being a nurse is hard, but mentally it’s exhausting.

The one time on a travel shift they handed me 3 sets of keys. I had 53 patients. I started my 6am med pass at 3am. I was damn near in tears. 🤣😭 never ever again. They can keep the keys next time.

Don't let anyone tell you how long your med pass should take. Everyone is different and everyone's residents are different. It's not a flex to speed through your pass. take time to be personable with your residents and actually care for them.

I’ll see your first trick and show ya mine …56 patients for me and only 3 CNAs! Let’s make it extra spicy and throw in no linens or towels/wash clothes but expect patients to be cleaned!

I did this for my first job, and mind you we had to do wound care + assessment and follow ups with all the residents. On top of that, we would have aide’s calling off last minute so then i’m also helping. Imagine passing meds + doing documentations + wound care + assesment and there’s no other nurses on site😭

Nursing home. 84 residents. I'm the only nurse with 3 or 4 CNAs. Only good thing is my CNAs who are the most awesome badass women you'll ever see and I'll fight for them with my life.

At my building we can pass meds with no licensing!! Narcs too, is this normal for some facilities? I’ve only been working in assisted living for 3 months and they already have me on the med cart. I love it tho 20residents meds in 2 hours

My morning pass is so heavy it takes me at minimum three hours, usually closer to four. By the time I finish am med pass I have to start afternoon accuchecks
