The children I teach deserve a teacher who keeps learning. 📚 Running GLS Academy comes with many responsibilities, but developing my knowledge as an educator remains a priority. My Primary Education Training for Teachers course through Alison exposed me to practices within schools in the United Kingdom. It broadened my understanding of how schools operate and how teaching and learning are organised at the primary level. I also wanted to deepen my understanding of the Cambridge Primary curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science in United Kingdom. This led me to participate in the nine-hour Focus on Progress: Cambridge Primary Combined English, Mathematics and Science course conducted by Cambridge United Kingdom. My goal was to look more closely at curriculum expectations, how learning progresses and how teaching can support that progression across these subjects. For me, professional development must translate into practice: better lesson planning, more purposeful assessment and informed decisions about each child’s next steps. As I encourage teachers at the academy to keep developing, I hold myself to the same standard. Leading an academy carries a responsibility to keep strengthening the knowledge behind our work.
