It’s the kind of place where you want to slow down, wander around and forget about the outside world for a while. 🚆 How to get there without a car 1️⃣ Take the train from York to Scarborough. 2️⃣ From Scarborough, take the bus to Whitby. 3️⃣ From Whitby, connect to a bus towards Staithes. 🚌 Check the bus timetables and return connections before travelling, as services along this part of the coast can be limited. 🌊 What to do in Staithes ✨ Wander through the old village’s narrow streets and explore the harbour. 🥾 Follow part of the Cleveland Way for spectacular clifftop views. 🏖️ Visit the beach and explore the rock pools when conditions allow. 🎨 Discover the village’s artistic heritage and little galleries. ☕ Stop for a coffee or enjoy fresh seafood by the harbour. If you love walking, you can also try the Staithes and Port Mulgrave circular walk, a beautiful 4-mile route taking around 2.5 hours, with coastal views, fields and woodland. My advice? Make this a little coastal escape rather than rushing through it. Spend two nights in Whitby and explore the surrounding villages, or stay in Staithes itself if you want a quieter getaway.
