However, instead of offering constructive feedback, Sarah went a step further and made a series of uncharitable remarks about David's work ethic and competence, implying that his lack of progress was holding the entire team back. As Sarah spoke, a heavy silence fell over the conference room. Her harsh comments immediately made everyone in the meeting feel deeply uncomfortable, as no one expected such a personal attack in a professional setting. Several colleagues lowered their eyes to their notebooks, unsure of how to react, while others exchanged tense, uneasy glances across the table. Even the manager looked visibly taken aback by the sudden shift in tone, as David was not present to defend himself.
