i also like how it's clear that sanji loves the queens from that island. even if he pulls on a rude act, it reminds me of how he acted around zeff. he might pretend to hate them, but it's just a front. like, c'mon, he named multiple attacks after zeff and the queens!!!

Sanji overall in chapter 1196 is Love is a form of self-defense. Someone who is suicidal or deeply hopeless won't bother dodging danger because they feel their life isn't worth protecting. On the flip side, a person who loves themselves will always try to keep out of harm's way. Sanji's habit of constantly sacrificing himself is basically his way of saying, "My life has no value, so why should I bother saving it?"

If we take the larger meaning of the word queer (as in anything that deviates from the “norm”) Sanji is absolutely a queer character in regards to his identity. Not because he intends to transition to another gender but because he too struggles with his body, a body he did not choose (he’s the result of experiments) and even then doesn’t fit the norm hai father imposed (the whole “he has emotions and compassion”) but because he too needs to learn how to navigate his existence, cope with his emotions and take steps to feel good and be happy
