it should be illegal around the world for printers to lock hardware up so you have to buy that specific type of ink / toner.

We had a printer, an enterprise printer in a hospital, got it all plugged in. Windows didn't recognise it as a USB device. We checked Passtrlhrough in BIOS, and checked drivers in Windows, HP aka Horrible Product block USB peripherals, even if you try the access administrator code and you have to context HP... I was done with HP at that point...

damn , I have a really old hp printer that doesn't do that, it hasn't even a screen lol, it eats up a lot of cartridges ink quickly and they expensive asf
