@portraitsbyprinceton: Stop guessing your color grades. Lightroom's color wheels are circles, 360 degrees all the way around. Divide that by 3 and you get 120. That's the whole trick. Pick a hue for your highlights (I used 35), add 120 for your midtones (155), and add 120 again for your shadows (275). Keep the saturation low and adjust from there. Two panels, Basic and Color Grading, and you've got a balanced grade every time. If you're interested in a good preset pack, the link's in my bio. #lightroom #colorgrading #lightroomtutorial #photoediting #portraitediting

No such thing as a perfect color grade, because photography is ~ art ~ and you 🫵 are the ~ artist ~ 😉

You started at 35. Does it matter what number you start at? Also you chose to adjust it to 40. Where did the 40 come from? Just a random amount, or was there more of a science behind it. It understand what you’re saying about total 120, just trying to understand the process

Colour grading is a creative process and you won’t learn in by using shortcuts. Don’t try to force the same colour harmonies to every photo. Triad harmony often works well but it’s not for every scene. Here it works since the colours in the scene already fit it quite nicely. For many scenes something like complimentary or split complimentary work better. I suggest watching a couple tutorials about the basics of colour grading and harmony. That way you can build on your own knowledge and figure things out trough trial and error

I love this. I've tested this slightly and it seems to work. I'll do a real test on the photos I take tomorrow and will post them.
