Why are they in our business at all? I want to do my job and go home. If we’ve get time to have parties, this isn’t a 40-hr job and we should all just be allowed to go home.

My approach is to have a talk about communication preferences, team culture, milestones. Eg a team member will be in corporate photos, but doesn’t want her name tagged internally/externally. For major accomplishments we would do a lot of attention and praise in team settings with a small token / gift, another person would rather quit-so a card from me with a small gift at her desk when she arrives is what we agreed too. But everyone wants a Jib Jab Video on their birthday sent to the team text chat - when I miss one, I get roasted.

It’s so easy to simply ask this information during orientation. You can also add a record in your HRIS and employees should be able to update it in Employee Self Service.
