bossmen saved the corner shop. they were being sold off in the masses by families that couldn’t afford to compete with supermarkets. bossman came along and opened late, opened sundays and solidified the corner shop as a stable of british culture.

My bossman was young and newly married. He always spoke of his wife back home and how he wishes she was with him. He was working long hours to bring her over and was living in a HMO at the time. It's been over a decade and I sometimes see him in my local supermarket shopping with his wife and babies. He gives me a little nod and I give him a nod back. He finally got his happy ever after.

my local Bossman kept his shop open on Christmas Day and wore a Christmas jumper. Handed out free Cool Shots to the regular customers throughout the Christmas evening. Let me off 10p one time, I always told him to keep the change after that. Let me take a box of tampons in an emergency situation when I was skint another time. He left because of the abuse he received, I don't know if he went back to his home country or if he set up another shop elsewhere. Please be nice to your local Bossman.

I'm English. I'm white. And I'm ashamed of how this country is acting. Welcome to everyone who contributes and loves this country. No matter your race or religion we will accept you over these racists and stand with you always

I will never forgive this country for bowing down to the racists and turning on the communities that picked us up and gave us so much. Immigration is the best of this country. 🥺

our boss man remembers the things we like and orders more in for us without us even asking. he regularly just gives us free things to try. he always gives my daughter a lolly pop, everytime she goes in there. he gives us deals we didn’t ask for just because. our boss man is a pillar in our community.

I’m a recovered alcoholic and when I quit drinking and went into the corner shops that I use to buy my drinks from they all said how proud they were of me and noticed. They had all noticed how much I was struggling and are always so excited to see me when I pop back to my old place and hear about how well I’m doing. My love to the corner shop and boss man ❤️

If the world went to oblivion and society collapsed, I know I can still count on bossman being open as usual. That is one of many reasons the country needs the bossman.

Boss man used to let me pay him the next week to top up my gas and electricity so I wouldn’t go without warmth or light. Basic needs. The co op round the corner wouldn’t let you do that.

my dad was a bossman, he was well respected in his community. He served his customers well, delivered to those who couldnt leave the house. He was also someone not to mess with, his shop was in a rough part of london, they called him the Guv'nor. He faced racism for years, fought those that attacked him. He built an empire and was the greatest man I have ever known. He died 17 years ago....

My boss man is on my Christmas card list. He doesn’t celebrate it but he always has the neighbours on display. He sends them to us. He’s our community

Naaah you’re not a Brit if you don’t love your bossman, be it the corner shop, the offy, the bossman Turkish pizza shop, they’re part of what make us great, do you see the co-op letting you off that 10p when you were a kid? Did Dave and Sue let you have a curry sauce with your chips when you forgot your card? Has Mike’s taxi ever said ‘£14 but for you £10?’ Don’t bloody think so, even now you tell bossman you’re £1 a short and he’ll either tell you don’t worry/pay me next time or something along those lines. We love bossman

My bossman really kept our community going throughout COVID. I was stuck at home with a young toddler, and he told me to just make a list of what I needed, whenever he went to the cash and carry, he’d drop everything off for me. It was such a relief not to worry about running out of nappies or milk, or having to risk taking her along to the supermarket, all because my bossman was thoughtful enough to notice.
