It's 'what can I take off your plate?'" so when they say "you're so resilient," I smile and nod. 😅 Here's the part they don't see: I'm usually saying it with cold coffee in my hand, a resident calling my name, and a to-do list that reset itself while I slept. Resilient sounds glamorous. Most days it looks like getting up because the morning shift doesn't start itself. I chose caregiving. I did not choose every hard season that came with it. 😂 So yes, I'm resilient. Plan Z, but it's working. 💜 Strong people still need help. We just don't always ask out loud. So if you see a caregiver carrying too much, don't clap for her strength. Grab a bag. Bring the coffee. Sit with the resident for 20 minutes so she can breathe.
