A good-looking risk-to-reward ratio doesn't automatically make a trade worth taking. You can identify a liquidity sweep, find a potential entry and draw a 1:3 risk-to-reward setup on TradingView. But if you're ignoring the price levels between your entry and your take profit, you're missing an important part of the analysis. This bearish price action example shows why identifying a setup is only half the process. After price sweeps the previous high, we look for signs that buyers are losing control. The reaction around the fair value gap and the break of the rising trendline give us reasons to consider a potential short. But before deciding where to take profit, we need to look at what's happening further down the chart. Notice the previous swing lows. These are areas where price has reacted before, making them worth paying attention to when planning a trade. They can provide potential take-profit targets, but they can also act as obstacles. Price might react at the first level, push through it towards the next, or reverse before reaching any of them. That's why simply choosing a take-profit level to achieve an attractive risk-to-reward ratio isn't enough. A better approach is to identify the relevant price levels first, then assess whether the potential reward is reasonable relative to the risk. In this example, we mark out multiple previous lows, identify the potential short entry, and use the chart to illustrate how the trade could develop. The important thing is understanding the reasoning behind the entry, stop loss and take-profit placement. A liquidity sweep, inverse fair value gap (IFVG) and trendline break can help build a bearish trading idea, but none of them guarantees that price will reach the target. Having a reason to enter a trade is important. Having a reason for where you plan to exit is just as important. Follow for more price action trading concepts, technical analysis and trade breakdowns. #PriceActionTrading #LiquiditySweep #TradeManagement #RiskReward #MarketStructure
