@mappitymapface: Taiwan number 1!! As an island nation located in the western Pacific Ocean, Taiwan has no physical land borders, but it maintains tightly controlled maritime boundaries across its 1,566-kilometer coastline. It is bounded by the East China Sea to the north, the Philippine Sea to the east, the South China Sea to the southwest, and the strategically vital Taiwan Strait to the west, which separates the main island from mainland China by an average of roughly 100 nautical miles. Its territorial jurisdiction also encompasses outlying archipelagos like Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, the latter two sitting just miles off the Chinese coast. In terms of immigration, the Taiwan National Immigration Agency enforces strict entry checkpoints at its major international airports and seaports. Eligible citizens from over 60 countries—including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the European Union—can enter visa-free for up to 90 days, provided they hold a passport with at least six months of validity, possess a confirmed return or onward ticket, and submit the mandatory, digital Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) within three days before arrival. Cross-strait travel with mainland China is managed under a distinct legal framework involving mandatory entry and exit permits rather than standard visas, and a de facto maritime border known as the median line tracks across the Taiwan Strait to demarcate jurisdictional bounds. #maps #geography #border #taiwan #asia
