@brutafrica: 🇰🇪 University of Nairobi students blocked sections of Waiyaki Way in Nairobi on Wednesday, demanding an end to the lecturers’ strike. The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) has been on a nationwide strike since 2 October over the 2025–2029 collective bargaining agreement (CBA). On 5 October, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba said all arrears under the 2017–2021 and 2021–2025 agreements “have been fully cleared.” He urged lecturers to return to work. However, talks with the union collapsed on 12 October. UASU says it is owed Sh7.9 billion in arrears and wants a written funding commitment from the National Treasury. It has rejected the government’s offers, including a Sh12 billion counter-offer. What are your thoughts?
