my baby is mixed race and because none white representation is more rare, I make a conscious effort to only purchase things if the characters represent her. it IS that serious!

I collect brown Christmas fairies and angels. TK Maxx / homesense usually stock them and I got some super cute ones from habitat last year x

The irony as well of the nativity scene always being white is never lost on me. I truly don’t understand why it’s so white washed. My little one is white but he likes buying things that look like him but also his friends so it’s important across the board. It’s 2026, it shouldn’t be made to be so hard

unfortunately this does not surprise me with the way things are going in the news etc, we are getting less inclusive which is just so sad. my children will be mixed race and it’s horrible to think about what’s going on.

This is something that’s always bothered me but if you google African American Christmas ornaments you’ll find a variety. I used to have a couple hanging ones for my tree and Amazon have some lovely ones xx

why does everything have to be made about race though?? Santa is a white man and always has been. I just think, unless you’re purposely looking for the colour of skin, you just don’t notice it!

A garden centre’s job is to sell Christmas decorations, not make every child feel personally represented by every item on the shelf. If they don’t stock what you’re looking for, shop somewhere that does. Not everything is a statement about your identity.

This is ridiculous. They were clearly NOT SELLING. The shop gave it 5 years & if there was a demand for them - they would have kept them. Obviously not enough people were buying them. Hence they were taken off the shelves….a business is supposed to lose money just because a minority wants to see (not buy) a black Santa ??
