slide through and i'll share my thoughts on each of these below 💭 "you need 1,000+ listings to make a full-time income" ➡️ there's a lot of content right now leaning into the AI buzz, pushing this idea that you need hundreds or thousands of listings to get sales. quantity will never be more important than quality. i've seen what mass-produced listings look like and most of them are not at the level of quality you need to actually make consistent income from this. "all print on demand products are created equal" ➡️ print on demand is not the business. print on demand is just how your products get made. you're not starting a "print on demand business." you're starting a t-shirt business for people who love hiking, or a mug shop for office humor, or a tote bag shop for book lovers. saying all print on demand products fit under one umbrella is like saying all restaurants are the same but the person who makes incredible Italian food might not know the first thing about running a hibachi grill. a lot of people try to pursue t-shirts plus mugs plus tote bags all at the same time. that's the mistake. each product type has its own nuance, its own design styles that work, its own margins, its own audience. you have to become really good at selling one thing before you try to sell more. they are not created equal and treating them like they are is one of the biggest mistakes i see beginners make. "you should change your SEO for every single listing" ➡️ test multiple designs using the same SEO before you go changing everything. give your listings enough time to accumulate views so you can actually know whether the SEO is working. the issue is that when you change your SEO for every single new design you create, and then something starts to perform well, it's harder to tell whether it's because of the SEO or because of the design itself. when you keep the SEO the same, you can tell much quicker whether you have good SEO or bad SEO. and once you've dialed that in, you can start to see which design styles are resonating more. it gives you a much clearer path, much more quickly. "AI-generated mockups are ready to replace real photography mockups" ➡️ i've seen a small handful of AI mockups that do look decent. BUT the majority are not there yet, especially when there's a face involved. you can always tell. the person looks like a porcelain doll and very unrealistic which disrupts trust. and when you don't have trust, you don't get sales. there are so many high-quality real photography mockups available that will convert significantly better. this is one where my opinion could change in the next six months or so with how fast AI is evolving, but right now i wouldn't recommend them. "pricing one variation of your product significantly cheaper so your listing looks cheaper in search results" ➡️ a lot of sellers do this. they'll price one small shirt in their listing at $9 so the listing looks cheaper in the search results, when really the majority of shirts in that listing are $25-30. this is something that just feels incredibly icky to me. it feels like a bait and switch, and it's something i will never use as part of my pricing strategy in my shops. which one do you agree or disagree with the most? let me know 👇
